Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does 3-Bureau Credit Monitoring include?

The first step in protecting yourself from identity theft is to view your credit report and stay up to date on any changes to it. Your standard IDBeMe program includes access to 3-Bureau Credit Monitoring for the primary purchasing member. This credit monitoring gives you access to 3-Bureau Credit Monitoring (TransUnion, Equifax and Experian) with alerts. Additionally, it gives you one-time access to credit reports from three Credit Bureaus upon sign-up and unlimited access to one-Bureau Credit Report .

  • If I see something incorrect on my credit report, what should I do?

Incorrect information on your credit report, whether it be your name, address, credit account or other information should be taken seriously, no matter what the cause. If the incorrect information appears to be fraudulent and not a simple information error, IDBeMe Resolution Specialists will perform a full investigation to assess the extent of the identity theft and immediately start work to remove this fraudulent activity from your name.

  • How much will Resolution Specialists do on my behalf to resolve identity fraud? Will they do the work for me or just tell me what I need to do to resolve the problems?

Our Resolution Specialists, whenever possible, will perform identity fraud resolution tasks on your behalf, relieving you of most of the work in resolving your identity theft problems. There are some items such as filing a police report or obtaining a replacement driver’s license that you will have to do personally. In such cases we will make the process as easy as possible for you by researching where and when you need to go, and what documentation you will need to take with you.

  • Can you help me if my wallet or passport is stolen while I’m traveling?

Yes, we can help you in many ways if personal information is stolen while you’re traveling. Typically our customers ask us to cancel and obtain replacement credit cards, provide a cash advance, or replace a passport. Any costs for express shipping or expedited passport processing are your responsibility. We can also place a fraud alert on your credit file to prevent new accounts from being opened in your name.

  • What is the Federal Trade Commission’s ID Theft Affidavit and why is that a part of the identity theft resolution process?

This document was created to assist victims of identity theft in restoring their personal identity. It is a form that can be used to report information to many companies, simplifying the process of alerting companies where a fraudulent account was opened in a person’s name. Developed by the FTC in conjunction with banks, credit grantors, and consumer advocates, the ID Theft Affidavit is accepted by participating credit issuers, retailers, banks, and other financial institutions.
